From May 24 to 26, 2023, an International Transport Forum “Transport contributing to a sustainable economy” was held in Leipzig (Germany). The summit participants discussed and shared their views on the role of transport as a factor of economic growth, which also contributes to environmental and social sustainability.
The delegation of the Ministry of Transport headed by Deputy Minister Jasurbek Choriev took part in the forum, where the Uzbek side made a proposal to take measures to improve the infrastructure of the trans-Caspian corridor and create favorable conditions for national carriers through the widespread introduction of digitalization systems and payment optimization, simplify visa procedures for drivers of Uzbekistan and increase permits for international road transport.
Following the results of the meetings, the Ministry of Transport proposed the following, the accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the system of bilateral quotas of the EEC, to organize in July 2023 in Mongolia a meeting of the Uzbek-Mongolian working group in order to conduct and prepare for the signing of the final work on the text of two agreements between Mongolia and Uzbekistan (air and road transport), in particular In the third quarter of this year, to hold the Uzbek-Bulgarian commission on international road transport in Tashkent and agree on an increase in the number of permit forms, acceleration of work with the Republic of Lithuania to increase the number of permit forms for international transportation by car, holding in 2024 in the Republic of Uzbekistan a high-level round table of the Asian region of the International Transport Forum (“ITF high-level Dialogue of Asian countries”) and the development of an intergovernmental agreement between Uzbekistan and Armenia on international road cargo transportation.
