The Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan took part in the Second Global ICAO Symposium

The Second Global Symposium of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on Implementation Support (GISS) continues its work in Seoul (South Korea), which is attended by the Secretary General of ICAO, Ministers of Transport of ICAO member States, heads of aviation authorities and other representatives of the aviation industry. Uzbekistan is represented by a delegation of the Ministry of Transport headed by the Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov.

 

The Global Symposium organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea brings together the ICAO World Aviation Forum (IWAF), the Symposium on Global Aviation Cooperation (GACS) and the Symposium on Global Aviation Training and TRAINAIR PLUS to highlight the latest ICAO digital tools, key initiatives and joint efforts to support aviation sustainability, innovation, sustainable development and operational solutions.

 

Within the framework of the symposium, Ilkhom Makhkamov held a meeting with the Secretary General of ICAO Juan Carlos Salazar, and noted that Uzbekistan supports the policy and practice of ICAO in the field of environmental protection. The Minister stressed that the most effective contribution of Uzbekistan in reducing carbon emissions is the development of production and use in civil aviation of semi-synthetic (50/50) aviation fuel (SSF) Jet A-1, which reduces emissions by 20%. Makhkamov added that in the future it is planned to switch to fully synthetic aviation fuel produced by Uzbekistan GTL. Following the meeting, plans were announced to hold the 42nd meeting of the ICAO Working group "Implementation of Professional Language Requirements" (EUR/NAT ICAO EASPG LPRI TF/42) on June 5-6, 2023 in the city of Samarkand.

 

The Minister of Transport held a meeting with the Minister of Transport of Singapore Amiy Khor. During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation in the development of airports of the Republic of Uzbekistan with Changi Airports International Pte. Ltd" and the creation of a modern container terminal on the territory of Uzbekistan with the company "PSA International". The Ministers stressed the importance of designing and constructing underground metro lines in Uzbekistan based on Singapore's experience. Cooperation between the two countries also includes the development of cooperation with the Center for Intelligent Management of the Transport System and the introduction of Singapore's experience.


A number of bilateral meetings were also held at the forum with Indonesian Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, representatives of Hyundai Motor Group, Korea Airports and Incheon Airport.
